v.X.1.4 June 28, 2005 - Numerous improvements and bug fixes:

• Added ability to select events in a range of stress values. Totally revamped the interface for filtering EQs.

• Added ability to calculate Frequency-Magnitude using Least-Squares.

• Fixed Define_grid to work on small screens (like the iBook). Moved all I/O to a frame on the right side of the map window.

• Added ability to plot specified stress contours (under 'View' menu).

• Load Seismicity Menu includes a help option describing the catalog formats.

• Fixed bug that would crash when "Filter Earthquakes" button is pressed after an AMR search.

• Tests for an "Output" directory in the working directory and makes one if needed.

• Changed behavior of elevation scaling widget. The elevation widget is destroyed when not in "map" view. This is for improved compatibility with computers with small screens (like the iBook)

• Fixed bug in deformed grid. Grid is now white and deformation goes from red to purple. The two missing lower-left hand cells in the grid have also been rediscovered.

vX.0 February 14, 2005 - MAJOR UPGRADE - Almond is now fully OS X/UNIX compatible and no longer needs to be copied to the working directory. Also added ability to save and reload topography in a nutcracker-specific binary file (much faster access)

v6.3.0 July 18, 2003 - MAJOR UPGRADE - Nutcracker is now fully OS X (i.e. UNIX) compatible. Also added ability to display shaded relief topography and ability to read USGS/gtopo30 ".DEM" files. Program does not yet drape coulomb images over the topography (coming soon!).

v6.2.8 January 30, 2003 - Fixed problem reading SCEC format catalogs - There is now a separate menu item for reading SCSN format data.

v6.2.6 January 29, 2003 - Fixed a bug that would not correctly scale topography datasets with grid spacings smaller than 1 km. Also greatly increased the efficiency of the READ TOPOGRAPHY menu item - ASCII XYZ data files now read in almost as quickly as HDF files.

v6.2.4 October 31, 2002 - Fixed a bug that would not correctly load coulomb files for grid spacings less than one km. READ_COULOMB_PLANES was modified to perfom a formal interpolation of data points using a grid spacing determined by the number of elements in the coulomb image.

v6.2.3 October 28, 2002 - Fixed minor bug that caused a new gps vector key to be created every time the vector file was loaded.

v6.2.2 October 21, 2002 - Fixed a various problems with topography files. READ_TOPO was modified to allow irregularly gridded ASCII xyz files. DRAW_MAP was modified to deal with a bug in the IDL MAP_IMAGE routine. This bug would crash IDL if the image that is being displayed is much smaller than the current map projection. The modification checks the size of a topographic image as soon as the routine is called. if the image covers less than 1% of the latitude or longitude of the mapped area, then the routine warns the user that a more appropriate map projection must be selected to display the data. The variable "topo_params.show" is then set to 0 (inhibiting the call to MAP_IMAGE). After an appropriate map projection is selected, the user must select "View:Topographic Features:Topography:Show" to set topo_params.show=1
