It has a genus as cocos and species as nucifera. When I was in Vietnam, there were thousands of coconut trees around my house. There are many types of coconut trees. Some are short, but others are tall. The fruits also have many different types with different color such as red or green. Some types of fruits are small, but others are big. Each coconut tree can produce about 50 fruits. Typical tall tree has a height of 15 to 17 feet. Its body is hard outside but soft at the center. The coconut fruit has a hard layer outside and white meat inside with a hollow at the center. The hollow at the center is filled with coconut mile that many people use for drink. Coconut trees grow in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Pacific region. In the United States, it is found only in Hawaii, the Southern tip of Florida, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. Coconut has many usages. Its body and leaves can be used for burning field, and its fruits can be used for drinking and oil. Coconut trees can be a shelter for several insects such as bees or other bugs.
